Do you agree with Admiral Sullivan’s decision to fire Alfonso Discuss. Discuss Commander Alfonso’s level of emotional intelligence in terms of the four components listed in the chapter. What advice would you give him?

Explanation / Answer

According to the case study, Alfonso’s influence on the crew is fear since he can’t control his emotion. Example from the situation: During training exercises, MacArthur was having trouble keeping the boat at periscope depth because of rough seas. Alfonso announced loudly then precipitously relieved him of his diving duty until he could be recertified by extra practice. At last, he got relieved by the admiral. Moreover,he doesn't have ability to understand his emotion so it impacts to their work. He has too much confident. 2. Self-management : He can't control his emotion. When he gets angry he displays his emotion in front of other people. 3. Social awareness : He loudly and publicly reprimanded those whose performance he considered lacking. . 4. Relationship management : He doesn't have ability to communicate with others so he can't connect with other people to build a positive relationship. I would like to advise him to learn how to communicate with other people politely and speak more clearly. He should adapt himself to work with team and build a positive relationship with them
