Question
The health care system has become very expensive. When I was born, almost 69 years ago, the hospital bill came to $95.27 including $0.27 in state tax. Here is a breakdown: 9 days in the hospital for my mother at $6.50 per day = $58.50, Pathology Services = $1, Delivery Room Services = $10, Medicines and Special Prescriptions = $3, and Nursery = $22.50. Today the cost of having a baby or any other procedure is much higher than that. General inflation would account for some of the rise but not much. What has happened to the system and did Obama Care help?Explanation / Answer
Health care system has become expensive due to following factors mentioned below:-
1) Increased salaries of hospital staff.
2) Costly machines installed in the hospital now-a-days.
3) High cleaning costs and maintenance costs of hospital.
4) Increased room charges (as the room comprises of facilities such as fridge, Air conditioner etc.)
5) Increased Cost of surgery etc.
Hospital recover all the above expenses (mentioned in 1 to 5 above) from its patients only. Thus, the bill of customer increased.
