1.  Patient needs a vein harvested from their leg to use for a heart bypass procedure, all complete during the same surgical session.
2.  Patient has foot and lower leg amputated; the toes were amputated in a previous surgery.
3.  Patient was schedule for a laparoscopic appendectomy, but a complication caused the surgery to be open.
4.  Patient had an abdominal laparoscopy and some adhesions were removed.

Explanation / Answer

Ans 1) In this there are two codes that are needed as it involves the harvest of the vein from leg which is one procedure and the heart bypass procedure, which is second.

Ans 2) It requires three codes as there are different codes for amputation of the foot, lower leg and toes.

Ans 3) There is just one code as it is only the laparoscopic appendectomy that is involved in it.

Ans 4) There is just two codes which is for removal of the adhesions from the abdomen and the procedure of abdominal laparoscopy
