At which enzyme concentration was starch hydrolyzed the fastest? Explain. t which enzyme concentration was starch hydrolyzed the slowest? Explain. Q2 Describe the effect of enzyme concentration on enzyme activity. Copyright O 2014 Pearson Education, Inc.Explanation / Answer
Q1. a. Test tube 4 will show the fastest hydrolysis of starch since it has the highest concentration of enzyme.
b. Test tube 2 will have the slowest hydrolysis of starch since it has the least concentration of enzyme. However test tube 1 has no enzyme it will not show hydrolysis of starch.
Q2. The enzyme activity increases with the increase in its concentration until saturating point when the rate of reaction (or activity) becomes independent of enzyme concentration. This increase in activity is due to availability of more enzymes to collide with substrates and hence more product formation.
