Explanation / Answer

Ans4. The proenzyme pepsinogen is activated by HCl present in stomach into pepsin. Pepsin converts protein into peptides and peptones. In infants renin enzyme is present which heps in breakdown of protein present in milk.

Ans5. Liver helps in detoxification of hormone, drugs, body wastes. It secretes bile which helps in emulsification of fat(breakdown of fat into diglycerides and monoglycerides).

Ans6. Bile and pancreatic juice are released in small intestine through hepato-pancreatic duct. Bile breaks down fats into monoglycerides and pancreatic juice consists of many enzymes. The trypsinogen present in pancreatic juice is activated into trypsin by enterokinase in small intestine. Along with trypsin and chymotrypsin, protein, peptones and peptide converts to dipeptide. The amylase present in pancreatic juice convers polysaccharide (carbohydrate) to disaccharide. Nucleases in pancreatic juice converts nucleic acid into nucleotides and nucleosides. The digested glucose, fatty acid, amino acid and glycerol are absorbed through mucosal lining of small intestine into blood stream.

Ans7. All the digestive waste is stored in rectum of large intestine. The waste is only egested voluntary by mass peristaltic movements.
