The theory of Behaviorism laid by Watson is a branch of science dealing with observable behavior. It includes behavior which can be observed, recorded and measured. It is having main importance for analysing humans or animals. Watson’s concept of behaviorism was influenced by the dog experiments done by Ivan Pavlov, a Russian psychologist. Because of the fact that unconscious and the internal mental state traits are not observable behaviorism therefore rejected by Watson. Watson’s behaviorism has a great impact on child development. According to him child behavior is developed as per his environment compared to his genetic makeup and inherent temperament. He is very popular in saying that he may “choose number of infants and train them according to any profession”. In other words, he thought that he may be able to uncover the child to various environmental factors train him accordingly to become any type of person he may wish. This was a sort of far-reaching philosophy and a kind of behavioral control that many people were not comfortable with at that time.
