Explanation / Answer

1) A gene is a section of DNA or RNA, which codes for a protein while Alleles are different versions of the gene.

Gene determines a particular trait, whereas Alternative form of genes known as alleles.

2) Gregor Mendel is considered to the first genetisicist.

3) The genotype is the set of genes in DNA which is responsible for a particular trait, whereas the phenotype is the physical expression and characteristics of that trait.

The genotype is the two alleles for one gene in one individual, whereas the phenotype is both and expressed by the genotype.

For examples of genotype – TT, Tt and tt. For phenotype – Tall (TT, Tt) and short(tt).

4) When two of the same kind of alleles combine to form a trait called as homozygous whereas when two different kinds of alleles combine to form a trait known as heterozygous.

Homozygous carries either dominant or recessive alleles but not both, whereas heterozygous carries both dominant and recessive alleles.

Homozygous has both similar alleles such as TT and tt, whereas heterozygous has dissimilar alleles such as Tt.
