Question

Help me correct my answers please what you will read in bold is what I have to do to correct my answer.

Answer the question 1 and 6 PLEASE HELP!!

1. Which kingdom do humans belong in? Use the information in this lesson to explain/support this answer.

Humans like us belong to the kingdom Animalia. Supporting this idea: Humans are multicellular organisms that is their bodies are made of more than one cell.

Human beings are heterotrophs. They consume other organisms of their energy and nutrition.

Question 1 - this is a good start but keep adding to this. Fungi are also multicellular heterotrophs, so why aren't we classified with them?

------------------------------------------

The Six Kingdoms

Eubacteria --

Single celled organisms.

Prokaryotic(simple cell) organisms

May live in colonies.

These are 'true bacteria'

Cell membrane contains fatty acids.

Archaebacteria --

Single celled organisms.

Prokaryotic(simple cell) organisms

May live in colonies.

These are 'ancient bacteria'

Cell membrane contains hydrocarbons (not fatty acids)

Protista --

Single celled organisms.

Eukaryoticcelled organisms with a nucleus and complex organelles.

May live in colonies.

Fungi –

Some single but most are multicellular organisms.

Have a cell wall made of chitin.

Eukaryotic cells with nucleus and complex organelles.

Plantae --

Multicellular, more than one cell.

Photosynthetic (convert sunlight to energy)

Autotrophs (They produce their own nutrients for energy using photosynthesis.)

Eukaryotic cells with nucleus and complex organelles.

Animalia --

Multicellular, more than one cell.

Heterotrophs(They consume other organisms for nutrients and energy.)

Multicellular, more than one cell.

Eukaryotic cells with nucleus and complex organelles.

Explanation / Answer

1. We are not being placed in the kingdom fungi because fungi bear cell wall made up of Chitin while as animal cells lack cell wall. This is the difference between animals and fungi apart from other difference. Other difference is that fungi although hetrrotrophs , acquire their nutrition by releasing digestive enzymes onto food which is broken down into simple.form outside the body and consume this simple form of food. Another difference is in their mode of reproduction. Fungi mostly reproduce by asexual means like fission, sporulation while as sexual reproduction is the main mode of reproduction in most animals.
