The Syracuse Mobile Health Unit has the budget show in Table 12:4.
Exercise 12.4 Expense Type Current-Year Budget Nurse Practitioner Salary $65,000 Driver & Health Aide Salary $45,000 Benefits (% of Salaries) 20.0% Van Costs $12,000 Medical Supplies $9,000Explanation / Answer
A.) The base budget is the current year budget as the projections of future expenditures are made on current year budget. The total base budget is shown as follows :- (Amount in $)
B.) The baseline budget begins with the current year budget and is adjusted according to actual spending in the current year, inflation, projections for new expenditures and any additional capital expenditures which are expected. The base line budget for next year is shown as follows :- (Amount in $)
As the increase in total salaries (i.e. 65,000+45,000 = 110,000) is 4%. Thus total salaries after increase will be 114,400(110,000*1.04) which includes both NPS and Driver and Health Aide Salary. Thus Health Aide salary will be $47,450 ($114,400-$66,950).
C.) The base budget would remain the same but baseline budget for the next year will be shown as follows:-
Expense Type Current Year Budget Nurse Practitioner Salary 65,000 Driver & Health Aid Salary 45,000 Less: Benefits (20% of salaries) (22,000) Van Costs 12,000 Medical Supplies 9,000 Total Budget for current year 109,000
