Why are they so dangerous? -List and know what can bacteria produce or change to become resistant ( mechanisms of resistance)? -What promotes antibiotic resistance in populations? -What are CRE bacteria? Why are they so dangerous?Explanation / Answer
Ans- Resistance in bacteria occurs when that bacteria change in a way that lower or reduce the effects of that specific drug and that drug lost its ability to kill bacteria.
*Changes which can occurs-
1. Mutations in the DNA of bacteria(mostly)
2. Antibiotic resistance gene transfer
3.formation of outer coat
* Gene mobility promotes antibiotic resistance in populations. It occurs by HGT ( horizontal gene transfer)
* CRE bacteria:-
It is a type of gram negative bacteria. CRE ( carbapenem resistance enterobacteriaceae). It is a common bacteria found in human intestine .
It is so dangerous because it have developed resistance to many of antibiotics. It is very difficult to kill this bacteria and over come to it.
