Figure 1 Species 1 Species 2 18 18 18 16 14 18 16 14 12 Eggs 14 12 12 -Size 1 2 3 4 5 67 89 10 11 12 13 14 15 12 3 4 5 6 7 89 10 11 12 13 14 15 6. How long did each individual survive? Compare the overall lifetime reproductive output of each individual. Which species has higher overall reproductive output, and how many eggs would the individual produce? 7. Based on growth patterns and the timing of reproduction, which species is closer to the K end of the r-K continuum, and which is closer to the r end of the continuum? 8. What type of reproductive strategy do these two individuals show? How did you determine this? 9. Based on the data, what appears to be the primary factor influencing when these individuals reach their highest reproductive output? Explain your reasoning. 10. Based on the body size and reproductive output of these two individuals, is there any evidence of a trade-off? Describe evidence that you think supports or does not support the hypothesis that there is a trade-offExplanation / Answer
6. it depends on the species average age, how it will survive. for this mean age is calulated, and it is sepcific for each species. according to given we cant assume the totel age of an species so survival age or life age cant be calculated.
Reproductive output of species 2 is more then Species 1, because species 1 reaches there maximun reproductive capacity untill they become 12 year of age while species 2 reaches maximum at only 5 to 6 years.
how many eggs an individual produce depends on sepecies, it is species specific ( DATA INSUFFICIENT)
7. "K" stands for Kapazitätsgren which is german for capacity limit, now called carrying capacity, K strategists have a low r and a high K. They grow slow but more survive. Species 2 is close to carrying capacity as it reach its maximum earlier then Species 1.
8. reproductive stratigy : species 2 starts producing eggs earlier then Species 1, as it seems that age of species 2 have less age then species 1. attening reproductive age erallier will produce more progeny.
9. Size of egg : more the size of egg more the chances of fertilization upto certain extant.
