•what type of merchandise do they offer their customers?

•the total profit reported in that same year

The company that I chose as merchandise business is TESCO PLC, TESCO is a multinational general merchandise retailer, It is headquartered in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England, UK.

Its founder Jack Cohen firstly started selling grocery items at the stall in Wall street market in the East end of London. Since then Tesco has grown multi fold and served the customers like a champion. Tesco has diversified its business in many areas from Selling grocery to becoming a multinational chain stores to open a bank. Tesco currently operates in 11 countries. Tesco diversified its business to such a core that It today it sales Petrol, It is in mobile business and sales it. Tesco started internet retailing as well. Tesco operates its online venture under Tesco.com. Till Nov 2006, Tesco was the only profitable online retailer in food retailing. TESCO runs many stores across UK. Such as TESCO METRO, TESCO Express, TESCO Extra, TESCO superstores, One stop, Dobbies, etc.

TESCO PLC operates in various countries, It has total 6,814 stores around the globe as on January 2016.

Jack Cohen has founded Tesco in 1919.

Tesco has over 480,000 employees around the globe.

Tesco deals in retail products such as Grocery items, Household items, Electronic items, Clothing items, Entertainments and Books, health and beauty products, Furnitures, Toys, Sports and Leisure products, Health and beauty products, Jewellery products.

Tesco procures its merchandise from big manufacturers, manufacturers, stockist dealers of manufacturers, some of the products like vegetables and grains It buys from farmers directly.

ASDA, Sainsbury’s, Morrison's, Aldi, Waitrose are the main competitors of Tesco.

Revenue of Tesco in 2015 was GBP 69.7 billion, Profit was GBP 1.4 billion and the expense was GBP 68.3 billion.
