1.This political type of campaign is bound to put pressure on the corporate-hospital managements, with different cost structures- according to their different spending capacities and preferences- It may take very long for them to recoup their wide-spread investments-to cater to the discerning elite- at this flat 25% mark-up.They might lose the initiative or incentive to initiate cost-cutting exercises on their own, due to something imposed on them.

2. Hospital association had to sign the agreement with SEIU -even when their own employees are not represented by any union- is because almost all the paramedical staff like nurses, respiratory therapists and other maintenance workers -are all members of the SEIU. Without whom hospitals cannot function day-to- day.

3. SEIU can certainly help to reduce hospital costs- which includes a sizeable portion towards costs for services rendered by paramedics, apart from doctor fees and (boarding and lodging)hospital-stay costs . These can be negotiated and standardised with SEIU.

Providing standard and adequate support services at affordable costs - coupled with good medical facilities -Developing these in co-ordination with each other- will be the most advantageous outcome of the association with the union- benefitting both sides and the general public.
