#1 A physician assistant in a medical practice with several physicians contacts his professional associations, the AAPA, to report that one of his employing physicians often recommends chiropractic treatment for patients with persisitant back issues that have resisted medical solutions. The PA knows it is legal to refer a patient for chiropractic treatments, but ha adamantly opposes the practice, consider it "bogus medicine,: The physician declines to discuss this matter. 1. In your opinion, how might the situation be resolved? 2. Is it ethical for the PA to continue working for the physician when their opinions differs so widely on this issue?Explanation / Answer
1.In my opinion this should be resolved by having all of the patients make complaints about the PA and when you make enough complaints then his/her supervisor can make the decision to fire the PA or excuse disciplanary action.
2.It will depend on the personal moral value of the PA whether he want to continue working or not but it is not ethical for the PA to working for a facility while discrediting the service that they provide.It does not make any sense to me for someone to work somewhere that they do not like.
