Technology in healthcare is making rapid advances. But there are several current issues that will impact the development, deployment and adoption of technology in healthcare. These issues are: - (a) decisions by healthcare organizations to adopt the new technology. This decision is taken on the basis of assessment of the cost-benefit analysis of the technology and the assessment of the efficacy of the technology. (b) deploying the new technologies within the organizational structure of healthcare providers. The issue is that organization structure is often complex. (c) proper monitoring the use of new technologies also becomes an issue.
The process by which healthcare providers deploy new technologies into their practice becomes an issue as the organizations have to adapt and change their organizational structures to derive the full benefit of the new technologies.
Moreover, most of the technologies these days are integrated portfolios of technologies that cover different functions within a health care delivery organization. This makes the adoption of new technology a complex process.
