Interdisciplinary approaches in health care has always been appreciated by planners as it would ultimately has a positive influence on the quality of services recieved by the public.It is expected that health care team works in cooperation with each other and integrate when need arises.But sometimes interpersonal relationships between team members are exhibited by disparity,dispute and hostility.

The traditional models of healthcare delivery based on medical practitioner alone has changed to embracing of clinical pathways and interprofessional models of care.A significant change in the health care delivery system arised when the professionals started to think that betterment of health care is only possible through mutual acceptance and recognition ,as well as the ability to work together as a team,ignoring the discipliniary boundaries surrounding the profession.Team work proved to be a promise of providing shared services for the welfare of the client.it is expected that teamwork will help in developing self-reflexive approach to health care.One of the goals of teamwork was to provide the worker with additional material to develop new ideas and help them to think critically and holistically in regard to clients and other circumstances.Team work helps in cordination of activities making it a shared responsibility rather than working in parallel.

On the otherhand there are structural barriers to team work ,so collaborative services are required at the grass root level.Authority structures and division of labour continue to reflex basic structural differences found in traditional health care facilities and wider capitalist society.For instance the authority to take decisions always lies in the elite professional such as disiplines of medicine who lies in the top of the pyramid.Medicine is a well established organization governed by a high income and status groups who makes important decision among the group.This separation among the team members based on economic and socil distinction hinders effective communication among group members.The high degree of self confidence established by the doctors and consciousness of this prestige amongst other occupational groups result in mutual wariness and defensiveness as each of them trie to defend their terrritory.

So teamwork concept has underpinned attempts by other occupations to resist,subvert ,restructure traditional relationships of medical dominance.The idea of teamwork promised to empower more rights to other professional groups.As multidisciplinary approach became more widespread and non-medical groups began to assert their professional interests doctors began to claim that they have superior power over the team.Health care teams continue to propagate the traditional divisions of labour rather than promoting an egalitarian approach.Some of the undeniable barriers to team work such as authority,power and control continue to dominate the health sector.The working schedule may inhibit the formation fof close relationship with each other .Sometimes meetings are fixed at a time which will be difficult for some worker to attend this will result in hostile and conflicts among the team members.For instance in the hospital where i have been working as a Registered Nurse,i too had a similar experience .we have an amzing interdisciplinary team where the doctors ,nurses and other professionals appreciated eachother and were quite friendly and it was like a deam team.But one of the doctors in our group had to leave and the new doctor who was sppointed didnt really liked our group work.After he came things started to change,we could feel a strong distance emerging between the professionals and it really affected us all.the quality of care began to caese and the management immediately called upon a meeting and the matter presented .But it was no good .

Sometimes health professionals may not be keen in developing an interpersonal realationship with other staff members .Instead they are more intersted in other aspects of the job such as taking care of the people.The main reason is that if they extend a good relationship with other professionals they might be crossing their territory and accused of being dishonest within the group .Inorder to avoid such a situation they tend to neglect and devalue relationships with other professionals.So co-operation at this mode of level is not easy to achieve.

Though we have a lot of principles guarding teamwork .it is not realized in reality.From what we can understand from the above stances that,that there is not much changed in the health care fraternity.Co-peration still continues to be a good word to be used in the principles of teamwork and the reality of the relationships have not been altered in anyway.Professional ethics is a force which impels the reform of interprofessional relationships and the establishments of team approaches to service delivery.
