1) Board constitute of members of different constituencies, and every member is free to present their interest and ideas. Not all the matters brought under discussion belongs to each community. If every member is allowed to being forward their interest then the meeting would end up in chaos. There will also be less acceptance of the issues and interest of other members.
Remedy : In the community specific matters the concerned community member should be allowed for expression of ideas. If too many issues needs to be discussed then it can be presented one by one clearly and the best idea can be selected.
2) Enchanting mission statement is not a relevant act in every meeting. This may develop a feeling that the members are not trusted by the board or their decisions are not considered as reliable.
Remedy: If an discussion, any act by a member is in such a way that hinders the attainment of mission, then that the time when the mission statement should be reviewed.
3) Reviewing of the activities of the previous meeting is important nut if it take a lot of time, then this will result in poor outcome of the meeting. Sometimes review of previously stated agenda give rise new issues and bias among the members.
Remedy: Meeting minutes can be presented in the beginning of the meeting which will give an outlook of the previous meeting and thus save time and prevent irrelevant conversation. Therefore discussion on strategic issues can be made.

5) A board can function effectively only if all its members work equally. Removing a member because he/she is dysfunctional may discourage the member. He may feel neglected or insulted. This will result in formation of a trouble maker for the further meetings.
Remedy: Every member different potential to work. If a board member is found to be dysfunctional then he/she can be allotted a work that can utilize his potential and will mot effect his morale.
6) Reviewing the performance of every member is but it should be confidential. Evaluate and disclosing the drawbacks of a person in midst of others will make him embarrassed and it will develop superiority and inferiority complexes among the members.
Remedy: The members performance appraisal should be done unknowingly and the result should be disclosed to the members individually.
7) Understanding of ones roles and responsibility will result in a healthy outcome.If the members of the board do not some roles to perform and if they are not aware if these roles, then during board meetings all work will be confused and it will end up in some irrelevant talks.
Remedy: Every board members should be clearly stated their roles and responsibility.
8) In every institution, job description serves as framework for work. Every member of the board whether it may be a trustee or an officer, have a specific job description to perform and should be aware of it. Without this the activities of board shall freeze. It would be similar to herd of animals working without any aim.
Remedy: Job descriptions should be clearly stated and based on it the performance of the members can be evaluated.
9) An organization where its board members do not cooperate, cannot function effectively. Board has the responsibility to communicate its activities and strategies to the manage of the organization. Lack of communication among the board and management will result in bias.
Remedy: The reports and minutes of the meeting should also be approved by the management before it is put into action.
10) Orientation, continuing education and evaluation process is an important factor in developing a competent employees. There is no pitfall in this statement because all these factors is necessary for a member as it will help in understanding what the board wants from them and how they have to put their thoughts to action. If the members receive proper orientation and education then it will result in a productive activity and attainment of the management goals.
