The Local public library is considering holding a picnic as a fundraiser. They lan to charge $30.00 per ticket. Yhey can rent a facility at a state park for $400.00. The food would be catered by a local caterer at a cost of $12.00 per meal, plus $150.00 for setting up their equipment. A band would be hired to play for $300.00 plus 10% of the "gate" (gross ticket sales"). The ociety would like to net at least $4,000.00 from the event. How many tickets must be sold for them to achieve their goal? [Note: you cannot sell a fraction of a ticket]

Explanation / Answer

Easiest thing to do would to put all these numbers in Excel, if you know how to use it anyway. What I got from it was:

Start off with a number of people at, lets say, 324. :) [324 people * $30 per ticket = $9720]

($30*324) - [($12*324) + $400 + $150 + $300 + ($9720 * 10%)]

Should give you a little over $4000. Hope this helps!
