You are part of a 3 person committee established to help improve the health & wellness of all hospital employees. You are to identify the names of the employees on the committee and state the area in which they work. You will represent each of these employees in your report Your team members are to develop a comprehensive plan that will support this wellness initiative.
Begin the session by using brainstorming tool and then use any of the CQI tool of your choice to help present your plan.
In your report state what each member of the team thought was the best way to promote activities for the health and wellness of hospital employees. Next state what each of the other members thought of that idea. This is brainstorming ideas. This part of your report should include a conversation where each member "speaks" at least 3 times. Agreeing with a member does not count as part of the conversation
The next area of your report is to follow the protocol for the 2nd CQI Tool you have decided to use to present your brainstorming and decisions
Finally, your final area of your report is to be one paragraph of at least 15 sentences at the end of your report describing your approach and the wellness initiative your team will suggest to hospital management.
You will have 3 areas for this report. The idea of each team member, the brainstorming of the committee and the tool used to determine the decision of the committee that will be presented to the hospital administration.
Explanation / Answer
A staff development committee was formed with three members for helping to improve the health and wellbeing of hospital employees. The three members are from different department as Ms. Sharanya from Lab and investigations, Ms. Angel from Nursing and Ms. Isha from Doctor’s group.
These three persons have a committee meeting in a canteen so what no one can disturb them, They may have relax time in the canteen. The main contributions towards improving the health and wellbeing of the hospital employees. Ms Isha stated that the committee should decide about the welfare of employees. So brain writing tool can be used. All three can write their ideas in paper and that can be discussed later. The main problems are Salary, Un protective measures while handling the patients in the ward and in labs, continuous 24 hour duty shift for doctors. These three problems create major ill effects on health. Adequate and appropriate Salary is the main thing which affects the well being.
Some of the activities to control the salary issue are. The management should pay the amount within that month.
All the employees should have their basic pay allotment sequentially according to their area of specification and experience. All the health benefits such as ESI , PDF needs to be updated for each employee in order to get adequate health services without pay.
The second issue is Un protective measures while handling patients in the ward and in laboratories. Activities can be taken to control this issue are The institution need to supply adequate protective equipments in order to prevent from communicable and infectious disease ,to prevent needle stick injury Vacuum tubes can be arranged to collect blood and body fluid specimens. Adequate lead sheets need to be provided by X-ray, MRI etc…
The third issue is 24 hours continuous duty for Doctors should be taken care off. Because continuous work without rest may damage body tissues and brain cells. So these 24 continuous hours can be arranged as shift hours. Three members were n discussed their suggestions to improve the health status of employees according to their departments respectively.
These suggestions were accepted by other members in the team
Ms. Angel (Nursing department) : If management increases salary the employees especially nursing faculty will be very happy, their stress and psychological issues may be solve, thus it improve the health of the employees.
Ms. Sharanya ( Lab and investigation): Yes off course we accept that. All the problems related to health and well being is mainly focused due to financial problem. If this is solved most the health issues will not affect the employees. I will help from my side if its possible to talk with management.
Dr. Isha : Don’t you have other activities to improve the wellbeing of your department employees.
Ms. Sharanya : Yes off ours I have. The main issue is health hazard such as needle stick injury, radiation related effects, I think the management should provide adequate protective equipments, for instance lead apron to prevent radiation effect, pregnant women can taken as considerations and assigning them in different area
Ms. Angel: yes this is true. All the department especially radiology should consider pregnant, lactating mother and small children
Ms. Isha: Yes really it is very painful. The corrective measures should be taken immediately to prevent the hazards. More over Doctors are experiencing more pain full situation as 24hour working schedule need to be changed.
Ms. Sharanya: Yes really it is true. Human beings need to take adequate rest to cell regeneration in brain. This can be arranged as three shifts.
Continuous Quality Improvement CQI expects that an organization need to collect information to incorporate healthy transformations.
Health care data analytics is the main tool to made a easier way for the health care institution to meet their Continuous Quality improvements. If the quality of the health care improved all the above health issues and problems will be clarified
The group members were approached by brain storming technique that ideas are imposed in a relaxed way to improve the health status of the employees of hospital workers. The three health activities’ such as improving salaries of all the employees according to their cadre and experienced based. Second all the labs and investigation centers need to issue protective equipments to prevent communicable and infectious disease. Vacuum tubes can be used to collect blood specimen. At last doctors 24 hour continuous duty can be given as shift wise duty So that they can take adequate rest rather than roaming up and down to complete 24 hour duty. They become very tied and wont be able to concentrate I work and health. If these activities are not implemented the heath status of the employee will be same forever,.
Conclusion
Brainstorming is imposing one’s idea to another person in order to solve the problems.
Continuous Quality improvement automatically paves way to create healthful environment .
All the points will be discussed with management.
