Medicaid is a system that is funded by both state and the federal government.   Medicaid provides health coverage to 68 million US citizens which are low-income adults, children, pregnant women, elderly adults and people with disabilities. Without Medicaid many of these people would not be able to afford or qualify for health care coverage. It is important to note that Medicaid is managed by individual states and the type of coverage in one state am not be the same in another state.
