Using the two different models for measuring the field (Helmholtz Coils and solenoid), determine which model gives a more accurate measurement for the magnetic field of the earth. Comment on your results. Are these results what you would have expected from applying each model? Look up/record the actual magnetic field of the Earth in Miami. Be aware that we were only measuring the horizontal field of the Earth (our compasses don't point up and down). How close were you to the actual value? Which set up (solenoid or Helmholtz) was more productive for solving the experimental problem? Why do you think that one was more productive? Helmholtz Solenoid givesmore accurate measurement for the magnetic field of the earth.
Coil a loop and current produces magnetic field due to moving charge. Each loop contrubute equal flux so the magnetic field is proportional to the number of loops.
The magnetic field inside solenoid is enhanced due to the lump of the metal which the coil is wrapped around. The fieldoutside a solenoid is weak so suually can be approxiamged to zero. As the current loops produces magnetic flux lines, the more the loops the stronger the magnetic field.
