Question
Most environmental issues involve a debate over whether a problem exists or what is the best solution to the problem. In this paper you will examine and suggest a resolution to a currently debated issue concerning the environment or natural resource conservation.
Search the internet, magazines, newspapers and find an environmental issue that is currently being publicly debated. Make sure that you can find information from organizations on both sides of the issue. Examples of such an issue would be whether to allow oil exploration and drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska or whether hand fishing (noodling) should be allowed in Missouri. You CANNOT use these issues but there are literally hundreds of other issues out there. 2.The first part of your paper will deal with a presentation of arguments from groups or individuals on both sides of the issue. At this point you do not take sides, think of yourself as a news reporter and just report their arguments. 3.The second part of the paper will deal with an analysis of the arguments. You will analyze positions on both sides of the issue and describe both the merits and faults of the positions from both sides of the issue. This analysis will be based on specific information gathered from your sources so citation of these sources is critical (see information on citations below). 4.In the third part of the paper you decide what would be the best course of action to solve this controversy. Base your argument on your analysis and on the principles described in the course. You may reiterate the arguments presented in the first part of the paper, but be sure to include why you feel this would be an appropriate course of action. Label the three sections of your paper as follows: I. Introduction to the issue and arguments from both sides. II. Analysis of arguments. III. Proposed solution. Parts II and III of your paper must be a minimum of 500 words. Cite within the paper all sources of information. You must have a minimum of 4 sources. Sources may include articles from scientific magazines/journals, newspapers, magazines, web based news outlets, organization's web sites, or any other source of information. The paper will be 1000 - 1400 words not including the literature cited page.

I am taking the most debated environmental issue in India that is Pollution of river ganga.
Ganga is most holy river according to hindu mythology and river originated from Gaumukh In Himalaya and its mouth is Bay of bengal while going to Bangladesh it meet in bay of Bengal. the total length of river is about 2525km. it is most populated river basin in the world about 400 million people lives in this river basin. approximately more than 20 small to large city are situated in bank of this river and its tribtary including New delhi, kanpur, Agra, Patna, Allahabad, banaras etc. and these all cites are metropolitian city. the river conidtion in these city are too worse. all the waste from various textiles, cement, industries and sewage waste are flowing in this river. In 2007, the river ganges considered as the most top 5 poputed river in the world.the fecal coliform is more than 1000 times to its limits. the bacterias lives in the large intestine of the human. all the sewage are allowing to flow in river. this cause the increase the level of this bacteria in the river. the pollution threatens not only the human being as well its also threatening more than 150 fish species.and more than 25 amphibian species in the river. people are directly bathing in the river in the dirty water and use detergent and soaps and make it more polluted.
the main cause of their pollution are following-
1- sewage from many cities along river course, industrial waste and religious offsprings in nongradable plastics
2- domestics and industrial waste espcially from leather factory are dumped into the river
3- laundry and baithing in river allowing the use of detegent and soaps cause the contamination of river water
Consequences- many disese like diarrhea, hepatitis, dysantry and cholera
- fishes species are dieing in polluted water. water become toxic in nature in Banaras. many species came in the list of ganga dolphin etc.
Plan- Ganga action plan launched in 1985 in order to reduce the pollution level in the ganga. this plan includes the purification the various tributary ofganga like yamuna, gomti, damodar etc all these process are under implementation at present
industrial and sewage dumping should not be allowed in the river
awareness program should be conducted to let the people know about the consequences of ganga pollution.
plastic and other non degradable material should not be allow to enter in river
sewage treatment plant should be made near river bank
