Question

The terrain here is tundra, so the rocks and their trends (the general direction in which the rocks are aligned) are visible. This trend, also called foliation, shows the direction in which the rocks are folded. This linear trend is the same type of pattern that we noticed for the Pilbara Craton, but here everything is the same color due to the green tundra plants (vs. the absence of vegetation in the western Australian desert)

The geometry between the rock bodies here and in the Pillbara Craton is similar. Based on this, what would you hypothesize is the rock type of the folded belt between the two granitic areas?

The rock types of folded structure in granitic rocks in the tundra terrain of Quebec in Canada are not clear. But in folded structure of Pillbara Craton in Western Australia shows different rock types. The rock types in Pillbara folded structure composed of metasediments, metavolcanics intruded by mafic and ultramafic rocks. These metamorphic rocks are hosting famous iron ore deposits in folded Hamersley basin. As the Archean basement rock contains granites and carbonates, in such terrains the folded structures contains metasediments and metavolcanics of Archean and Proterozoic age.
