Question
A cylinder is fitted with a leak-proof piston and calibrated so that the volume within the cylinder can be read from a scale for any position of the piston. The cylinder is immersed in a constant temperature bath maintained at 160 degreee F, which is the reservoir temperature of the Sabine Gas Filed. Forty-five thousand cc of the gas, measured at 14.7 psia and 60 degreee F, is charged into the cylinder. The volume is decreased in the steps indicated as follows, and the corresponding pressures are read with a dead weight tester after temperature equilibrium is reached. Calculate and place in tabular form the gas deviation factors and the ideal volumes that the initial 45,000 cc occupies at 160 degreee F and at each pressure. Calculate the gas volume factors at each pressure, in units of ft^3/SCF. Plot the deviation factor and the gas volume factors calculated in part (b) versus pressure on the same graph.Explanation / Answer
answer- temperature of the Cylinder is 160F = 344 K
at 60F = 288K and pressure 14.7 psia = 101.35 KPA the volume of the gas is 4500cc
In above data we have found in the increament in the amount of pressure there is decrese in the amount of volume of gas. gas volume factor is the function of the fluid composition and presure or temperature ratio between reservoir and standard conditions (14.64 psia and 60F)
the formula of gas volume is
Bg = Vr/ Vsc = ZnRT/p* psc/ ZscnRTsc = PscZT/ Tscp = 0.0283 Tres* Zres/ pres
the gas volume factor of above data is given.
