Question

As the ES&H manager for a nationwide franchise of handymen, you have set up a system of job safety analyses (also known as job hazard analyses; JSA or JHA) for your crews. Using the Table below, create a JSA for a handyman to clean residential roof gutters on one- and two-story residences. As you are aware, roof gutters collect rainwater from the roof and direct the water to down spouts. Leaves and other debris often collect in gutters, blocking the run off path, and the water overflows, dripping or cascading onto walkways and plants below. This can lead to structural damage. To clean gutters, a person must climb a ladder and scoop or pick the debris out of the gutter and into a bucket. When the gutter is fairly clean, a hose is used to wash the remaining debris from the gutter down the downspout. Doing so also dislodges and clears the downspouts so the collected gutter water can flow freely. Create additional rows in this table, as needed.
