Explanation / Answer

1. Strangely both the data for elastic and inelastic for all three trials fail to provide the evidence that total initial momentum of the system = total final momentum of the system. Hence I don't find here any experimental evidence for conservation of linear momentum!

2. The elastic data for Kinetic energy for all the three trials on rounding off to 1 significant digit gives the following data:     

Clearly the kinetic energy of the system is conserved for the elastic collision case in all three trials.

3. Consider the inelastic KE data for all the three trials rounding off to 1 significant digit :

Clearly the data shows that the initial kE of the system is not same as that of the final. Hence kinetic energy is not conserved in inelastic collision.

4. Kinetic energy is not conserved in inelastic collision because some part of the initial kinetic energy is used to deform the system or it is dissipated in the form of heat energy, sound energy etc.
