Explanation / Answer

The combined cycle plant process of electricity generation by using steam plant and gas plant. The combined efficiency improved by using heat of exhaust gases from gas turbine. The type of cycle is use of exhaust gases from gas turbine as combustion chamber of steam generator. For gas power plant, the input fuel and air ratio enters into combustor to produce ratio mixture and then expands at gas turbine to produce mechanical energy. From mechanical energy to electrical energy conversion by using generator or alternator. The compressor used to compress the sucked air with its rotary blades and stationary blades, which will filter the input air and raise pressure at output.

The exhaust gases from gas turbine will have hign temperature, these will be recovered and utilised when heat transfer takes place in steam generator, that will converts water into steam having high temperature. The heat of transfer of energy makes the heat rate to gets improved by 7% to 8%. The capacity of power plant also increased and takes less water from sources by using condensor. The make up water is to filter and evaporation method uses in it. The cooling water used to extract heat before water pumped again to steam generator.

From combined cycle plant the overall efficiency improved by 2% although some loss of efficiency in gas turbine.
