Question 2: Design (cl, c2, c3, c4) 130 pts] Application: to select the signal S, surrounded by two other signals S, and S, as shown inmV and shou frequency is 50kHz, s, at 35kHz and S, at 65kHz. The incoming signals amplitudes are at 500m at least 1200m V at the filter output. 2. If the If the signal s S, Among the three main filter types discussed i class (LPF, HPF, BPF), explain why theB would be the most appropriate to meet the application requirement. (c2) 16 pts a Filter becune it hers out in Fig. 2 Write the appropriate fiter design specifications to meet the design requirements. (cl) 16 ptsl e. Design the BPF fiter circuit of Fig I by setting the appropriate components values to meet the application requirements. (c3)112 pts

Explanation / Answer

2(a)BPF stands for Band Pass filter. It passes a certain band of frequencies in a given input signal and blocks other frequencies. Here we see that we have got 3 frequency components in input and Only one frequency terms in the output. And the ouput frequency lies between the two frequencjes that are blocked. Therefore band pass filter is the most suited for this.

b)The appropriate design specifications are.

The band which the filter passes must be centered at 50kHz and must extend by 15kHz from 50kHz to 65 kHz in the forward direction as well as to 35kHz in the backward direction. So it must be a Rectangular pulse Starting from 35kHz and ending at 65kHz with its center at 50kHz.So its Bandwidth will be 30kHz.

As far as the amplitude of that pulse is concerned it will be equal to the Gain of the filter.Gain is given by Output magnitude ÷Input magnitude. So in this case the Gain should at least be 1200/500 =2.4,So the gain must at least be 2.4

c) The circuit is not shown. If circuit is shown i can solve the problem.
