Question

I got stuck solving for a b and c. can you please do them step by step and please have them clear?

a. Assume a clock speed (Oscillator Frequency) of 16MHal pravide the instructlons to set the any ticks of Timer (TCNT) will generate a delay of 10 milliseconds. value is 32 ticks of TCNT will cause b. For an HCS12 operating at a clock frequency of 96MHz and prescalar value set to 32, how much delay (in msec)? c 96m 20000 ticks 20000 HCS12 c. Conceptually, describe the operation n of the HCS12's timer output compare capability for timer channel 2

Explanation / Answer

Answer :- a) Oscillator frequency = 16 MHz and prescalar = 32, so clock frequency for the timer is 16/32 MHz = 0.5 MHz.
The time period for timer one count = (1/0.5) us = 2 us. Thus for delay of 10 ms, the number of ticks required is-
n = 10x10-3 / 2x10-6 = 5000.

Answer :- b) Frequency availbale for the timer = 96/32 MHz = 3 MHz. Thus one count of timer will take time of 1/3 us. Hence 2000 ticks or count will take 2000/3 us = 2/3 ms = 666.66 us.

Answer :- c) Timer output compare operation is used for generating a periodic pulse with a programmable polarity, duration and frequency.
