Question
Hi, Everyone, I have a question that came to my mind, and it's really important to me to answer it correctly if you don't know please don't answer.
I want to make a PCB Board that has:
Microcontroller
Heart Rate Sensor
Bluetooth Module
Switch
Vibrator Motor
and a rechargeable LiPo Battery
I know I have to power the microcontroller through the battery, but at the same time all the other peripherals (components) need power and it has a VCC & GND, Show I connect the LiPo battery to the microcontroller and the microcontroller is supposed to power all the components? if yes give an example
if no explain and give an example.
thank you
Explanation / Answer
It is not that easy to say yes or no as it dependence on many things.
- Micro-controller sourcing current limit at GPIO pins
- Micro-controller sinking limit (safer)at VCC
- External peripheral limit
Now, if external peripheral current limit is less than micro-controller sourcing limit you can use controller supply.
and if not than a BJT switch can be used to control the supply of peripheral using gpio to control the transistor.
