In the circuit below, the capacitor is initially uncharged when Switch A is closed for 1.5 s, then opened. Switch B is then closed, allowing the capacitor to uiscridrge into me resistor (R = 40 ). What is the instantaneous power dissipated in the resistor after the switch has been closed for 1.09 s? (Hint: the capacitor is not fully charged to the same voltage as the battery.) Write your answer to three significant figures. You will report your units in Question 2.

Vc = 12*(1-exp(-t/Rc)) = 12*(1-exp(-1.5/(40*50*10^-3))) = 6.332 volts

Vr = Vc*(exp(-t/Rc) = 6.332 *(exp(-1.09/(40*50*10^-3))) = 3.67 V

Power = V^2 / R = 3.67^2 / 40 = 0.337 W
