Question
3. The circuit shown below contains three light bulbs: two with identical resistance, and one with twice the resistance as the other bulbs. The circuit is powered by a 10 VDC power supply (assume that the power supply is ideal and has negligible internal resistance) and controlled by a switch S.
a) what is the equivalent resistance of the entire circuit?
b) find the current through the power supply.
c) what is the voltage drop across bulb A?
d) find the current through each bulb.
The circuit shown below contains three light bulbs: two with identical resistance, and one with twice the resistance as the other bulbs. a) the euivalent crcuit is a resistor of resistance 6.66 ohm connected across a 10V battery
b)I = 10 / 6.33 = 1.5A
c) volatge across the series 4 ohm resistor = 10 * 4 / (4 + 2.66) = 6V
voltage across the 8 ohm reistor = voltage across the second 4 ohm reistor =10 * 2.66 / (4 + 2.66) = 4V
d) current throught he series 4 ohm = 1.5A
current throughy the 8 Ohm = 1.5 * 4/(4+8) = 0.5A
current throughy the second 4 ohm Ohm = 1.5 * 8/(4+8) = 1A
