Question

if cant read the inside says 12.0km at 30 degrees W of S.

Anyway figure shows the successive displacements of an aircraft flying a search pattern. The initial position of hte aircraft is P and the final position is P'. What is the net displacement (magnitude and direction) between P and P'?

Find the answer both graphically (by carfully drawing a page-size diagram with protractor and ruler and measuring the resultant)

I have solved it using trigonometry which i had to do as well and I know the magnitude is 11.2 km at 2.3 degrees north of east (yes that is the right answer).  BUt I dont know how to find the answer by graphically drawing a page size diagram with protractor and ruler and measuring the resultant. Please help.

Explanation / Answer

you just consider one kilometer to be one centimeter and then draw accordingly and convert the final ans into kilometers thats it

say if the final ans comes to be 2 cm then ans should be 2 km
