Question
What is the current through resistor R1?
What is the current through resistor R3?
What is the voltage difference across resistor R2?
What is the voltage difference across resistor R1?
What is the voltage difference across resistor R3?
What is the total current through the battery?
In the circuit above, the voltage across the battery, V, is 39V, and the resistances are R2=8.0 ?, R1=5.0 ?, and R3=5.0 ?. What is the current through resistor R2? What is the current through resistor R1? What is the current through resistor R3? What is the voltage difference across resistor R2? What is the voltage difference across resistor R1? What is the voltage difference across resistor R3? What is the total current through the battery?
Explanation / Answer
R1 and R3 are in a series. R2 are parallel to them both
so Rnet = 4.44 ohm
Vnet = 39V
I = 8.77 A
this current is divided into two branch, with resistance of branch as 8 ohm and 10ohm, so current is divided in inverse to resistance so:
8.77*8/18
3.89A in 10 ohm branch, 4.87A in 8 ohm
R1 and R3 recieves 3.89A current
R2 recieves 4.87A
V1 = V3 = 19.45
V2 = 38.96 approx 39V
