Question
The potential in a region between x = 0 and x = 6.00 m has a linear relation; the potential-intercept is 10.0 V and the slope is -7.00 V/m. Calculate the potential at the following positions: x = 0, 3.00 m and 6.00 m. Find the magnitude and direction of the electric field at the same positions.
The potential in a region between x = 0 and x = 6.00 m has a linear relation; the potential-intercept is 10.0 V and the slope is -7.00 V/m. Calculate the potential at the following positions: x = 0, 3.00 m and 6.00 m. Find the magnitude and direction of the electric field at the same positions.Explanation / Answer
the eqn for potential would be V= -7 *x + 10;
so at x=0,V=10V
x=3, 10-21=-11 V.
x=6 10-42=-32V.
E=-dV/dx = 7 V/m in the +ve x direction.
