This is Answer to Your First Question. Please post other questions as separate. (We can answer only One question At a time , According to Chegg's Guidelines)
Solution:
fo = frequency source
vs = sound speed [say 340 m/s]
v = train speed before slowing down
v' = train speed after slowing down = v/2
f = fo*vs/(vs-v) [frequency heard before slowing down]
f' = fo*vs/(vs-v') [frequency heard after slowing down]
310 = fo* 343 / (343 - v)
300 = fo * 343 / (343 - v/2)
dividing the above 2 equations
310 / 300 = (343 - v/2) / (343 - v)
1.0333(343 - v) = 343 - v/2
354.43 - 1.0333v = 343 - 0.5v
11.43 = 0.5333v
Part A: v = 21.439 m/s (before slowing down)
Part B: v/2 = 10.72 m/s (after slowing down)
