Question
State weather the folloing statement is TRUE or FALSE and JUSTIFY your answer.
1. The transformer is a device that has been designed to convert a 'X' VDC input into 'Y' VDC signal.
2. The Arduino Uno has in-built a 10 bit ADC converter that provides 2^10 = 1024 discrete levels.
3. A zener diode is a diode whose breakdown voltage has been designed to sit at a specific.
4. The duty cycle of a pulse width modulated signal is the ratio of the clock on-time to the signal's fundemental period.
5. The function "analogRead (A0)" reads from pin marked as A0 an analog input returns an analog voltage between 0 to 5 volts.
Explanation / Answer
1.False.A transformer is an electrical device that transfers electrical energy between two or more circuits through electromagnetic induction.
If DC supply is given to the primary of Transformer then DC current flows through primary winding which is constant(time invarient). For production of emf in any winding the current flowing through that must be sinusoidal since e=L*(dI/dt).So in the given case ie, for DC input,no emf produced in primary winding. So net voltage in the primary winding will be (Vin-0) more due to which primary winding draws more current which leads to burning of winding.
2.True.
The ADC on the Arduino is a 10-bit ADC meaning it has the ability to detect 1,024 (210) >Discrete analog levels.8-bit ADCs (28 = 256 discrete levels) and some have 16-bit ADCs (216 = 65,536 discrete levels).
3.True
A zener diode is a diode whose breakdown voltage has been designed to sit at a specific because some
“zener” diodes break down Some operate on the principle of zener breakdown, while others operate on the principle of avalanche breakdown.
4.True.
A duty cycle is the fraction of one period in which a signal or system is active.
5.True.
This means that it will map input voltages between 0 and 5 volts into integer values between 0 and 1023.
