Since multiple questions are posted, I will solve the first one.
1. A diode is said to be turned On when the voltage across the diode becomes a constant and it starts to carry currents of high magnitude (if allowed). The method to measure this is to connect a voltage source to a diode along with a resistor in series. The diode should be forward biased. Keep on increasing the voltage source supply, and parallely measure the diode voltage drop by a voltmeter. Intially, the diode will have a voltage drop across it that will slowly start to increase. At a ceratin stage, even if the voltage supply is increased, the diode voltage drop will remain more or less constant. This is the turn-on voltage of the diode (the voltage drop across the diode).
The diode turn-on voltage can also be measured using the diode-test mode on a mutimeter. This modde applies a small voltage across the diode terminals and measures the diode turn-on voltage directly.
