Question

Refer to the schematic belor. A load impedance Z is to be matched to a so o impedance using a shunt open-circuit stub followed by quarterswarelength orangformer. The main goal of this problem is to determine the electical length in degrees of the OC stub as well as the characteristic impedance of the QuT. (Nasice that these have been left blank in the schematic) The load impedance consists of a series RC as seen through a length of transmission line. Assume a frequency of 1 GHz, when computing ZRC- Begin by evaluating the real part of ZRC. Type your answer in ohms to one place after the decimal, 1.e. xx x (This is not a trick question, the answer is obvious.)

Explanation / Answer

Answer:- The real part of ZRC is = 50 Ohm. This is due to presence of resistor, capacitor has capacitive ractance which is an imaginary value.

ZL consists of TL2 of 50 Ohm, a resistor of 50 Ohm and a capacitor of capacitive reactance Xc = -j/(2*3.14*f*C) = -j50.03 Ohm, in series. So imaginary value of ZL is = -j50.03 ohm.
