2.With the added two servings of protein mix, how does Mark’s intake compare to his protein RDA?
3.Based on the answers to the preceding questions, what advice would you give Mark?
(With calculations please and state it like this: Marks intake... AMDR/RDA...)
Explanation / Answer
1. AMDR- ACCEPTABLE MACRONURIENT DISTRIBUTION RANGE, for protein it is the percentage of your total calorie intake that should come from protein each day. it ranges from 10-35%.
in the case of MARK daily calorie intake= 3000.
total protein intake= 125+ (10*2)=-125+20=145, as he taking protein powder which contain 10 gm protein for 2 times each day.
so total calorie gain from it= 145*4=580k cal.( as 1gm protein give 4kcal).
so protein AMDR value is= 580/3000*100%= 19.33%.
2. RDA - IN case of protein it is the amount of protein you need to meet your basic nutritional protein requirement.
weight of MARK IS 154lbs.
RDA of protein= weight*0.36 = 154*0.36= 55.44 kcal.
he getting total protein from food and supplement is 580cal. so it is more then the requirement.
3. protein is not stored in our body but is utilized for various functions most of which build up the body muscle mass. in case of MARK as he following proper diet and taking supplement he fullfiling his AMDR, RDA protein value. and the extra protein help him to build the body muscle mass.
