Question
Part A A 10?F capacitor initially charged to 30?C is discharged through a 1.5k? resistor. How long does it take to reduce the capacitor's charge to 2.0?C ? Express your answer using two significant figures. t = ms Part A A 10?F capacitor initially charged to 30?C is discharged through a 1.5k? resistor. How long does it take to reduce the capacitor's charge to 2.0?C ? Express your answer using two significant figures. t = ms t = ms t = ms t = msExplanation / Answer
the charge at time = t sec. is given by-
q(t) = Qo*e^(-t/(RC))
here, Qo = 30 uC, R = 1.5k ohm, C = 10 uF and q(t) = 2.0 uC
substitute these values in the above equation:
2 = 30*e^(-t/0.015)
--> 15 = e^(t/0.015)
take ln both sides:
--> 2.708 = t/0.015
--> t = 0.04062 s
or, t = 40.62 ms
