Question
3. Michael hits a foul ball straight up into the air with a speed of 30.0 m/s.
(a) Calculate the time required for the ball to rise to its maximum height. Write out all the knowns for item (a).
(b)Evaluate the maximum height reached by the ball. Write out all the knowns that pertain to (b) first.
(c) Determine the time at which the ball passes a point 25.0 m above the horizontal at which the ball became airborne. Make a drawing and write all the knowns that pertain to (c).
(d.) Explain why there are two answers to part c

Explain why there are two answers to part cExplanation / Answer
a)v=u+at
0=30-9.8*t
t=30/10=3s
b)
v^2-u^2=2*g*s
0-30*30=2*-10*s
s=45m
c)5=1/2*10*t^2
t1= 1s
so t= 3-1 =2s
and 3+1=4s
d)there are 2 answers because ball goes to 3o m and comes back so 25 will occour twice
