Question

Two emission stacks A and B as shown below release pollutants into a steady wind 3 m s-1 under class C stability conditions. Stack A with effective height 30 m emits a pollutant at 10g s-1 and stack B with effective height 25 m emits the same pollutant at 25 g s-1. Estimate the concentration (ug m-3) at the point P on the ground as shown.

Hints:

a. Calculate Dy, Dz for stability class C at x = 1000 m (stack A) and also at x = 1200 m

(stack B)

b. Use these values in the Gaussian plume equation to calculate concentration at P for stack A (y = 15 m, H = 30 m) and concentration at P for stack B (y = 20 m, H = 25 m)

c. Sum the values obtained in (b) to estimate total concentration at point P

Answer: 429 ?g m-3

Thanks!
