Question

1. A block sldes on a semicircular fricitonless track as shown. a) If it starts from rest at point A, what is its speed when it reaches the bottom of the track at point B? b) What force does the track exert on the block when it passes through point B if the block's mass is 1.00 kg?

Explanation / Answer

Im not exactly sure ( just passed college phsyics with a C)...

But what I would try is using total Kinetic Engery,, use the formula K1+U1=K2+U2

K being kinetic engery which is (1/2mv^2) and U being (m*g*y) y being the displacement or hieght... since it starts at rest K1 can be canceled also U2 can be canceled since it reaches an end point... So you would end up with U1=K2 which leaves you with mgy=1/2m*v^2 then all you should have to do is isolate the velocity and that gives you the answer!!! and also go to www.cramster.com for a better website for class help
