There is a region with a constant magnetic field 4.84T . The magnetic field is directed out of the page. A conducting rod moves with a velocity of 1.87m/s , along a V shaped wire that is in the shape of a right triangle. At time = 0 s the rod is at the vertex of the triangle where the angle at the vertex is 19degrees . The right angle is where the conducting rod is. This means the rod is moving along the x axis and the rod is the y axis. What is the emf indicate in the rod after it has moved from the vertex for a time of 10 6s ? What is the current induced in the rod if the resistance is 4.35ohms? What is the power in the rod?

Explanation / Answer

Part A The emf induced in the rod is e = -N(d?B/dt) or e = -NB(dA/dt) Here,N = 1,B =4.84 T,dA = 1 and dt = 10.6 s or e = -1 * 4.84 * (1/10.6) = 0.456 V Part B The current induced in the rod is I = (e/R) = (0.456/4.35) = 0.104 A Part C The power in the rod is P = e * I or P = 0.456 * 0.104 = 0.0478 W = 47.8 mW Part A The emf induced in the rod is e = -N(d?B/dt) or e = -NB(dA/dt) Here,N = 1,B =4.84 T,dA = 1 and dt = 10.6 s or e = -1 * 4.84 * (1/10.6) = 0.456 V Part B The current induced in the rod is I = (e/R) = (0.456/4.35) = 0.104 A Part C The power in the rod is P = e * I or P = 0.456 * 0.104 = 0.0478 W = 47.8 mW
