Question

What am i doing wrong?

Rank the angular speed of the following objects, from highest to lowest: A bowling ball of radius 12.1 cm rotating at 0.456 radians per second. A tire of radius 0.361 m rotating at 12.2 rpm. A 4.34 cm diameter top spinning at 18.7 degrees per second. A square, with sides 0.123 m long, whose corners are moving with tangential speed 0.287 m/s as it rotates about its center. A rock on a string, being swung in a circle of radius 0.587 m with a centripetal acceleration of 4.53 m/s2

Explanation / Answer

1. Angular speed = 0.456 rad/s

2. Angular speed = 12.2*(2*pi/60) = 1.277 rad/s

3.Angular speed =18.7 *pi/180 = 0.326 radls

4.Angular speed = V/r = 0.287/sqrt(2*0.123^2) = 1.650 rad/s

5.Angular speed =sqrt(a/r) = 2.778 rad/s
