Question

Two blocks connected by a cord passing over a small, frictionless pulley are released from rest on frictionless ramps as shown in the figure to the left. What is the acceleration of the blocks?

The answer is vector a=0.438m/s^2 to the left

I just need this problem worked. The answer with the most detail gets the points.

Explanation / Answer

assume 200 kg block moving down

so

200*9.8*sin30 - T =200*a

T-100*9.8*sin60 = 100*a

adding both

(200*9.8*sin30) -(100*9.8*sin60 ) = (200+100)*a

131.295 = 300*a

we get a = 0.437 m/s^2
