Engineering Procedure Directions: Please answer the question and support your ideas, then respond to a minimum of two of your classmates In this week's lab related to capacitive reactance, you were directed to complete analytical calculations prior to simulating the circuit in MultSIM. As a formal engineering procedure, the order should be engineering design (calculations), computer simulation, and lastly construction of a physical circuit. Why would this order be critical to ensure safety and responsible use of resources on an engineering project?Explanation / Answer
This order is essentially very important because before doing simulation using MultiSIM or by using any other software to be precise, a prior theoritcal knowledge is needed on the component (or circuit) that a student is going to simulate. Just like in this case, you need a prior knowledge on capacitor and how they work in the first place before simulating the circuit in MultiSIM.
After doing analytical calculations, a student is well aware about the the circuit and how its going to behave. To check this, Simulation is the essential part. Simulation is done by MultiSIM in this case. While doing simulation, its essential to note the maximum current handling capacity of the circuit elements else excessive current and corrupt the devices.
When analytical calculation and simulation is complete, then a student is expected to know both the theoritical knowledge and the behaviour of a circuit. Then, the circuit can be implemented practically to study its behaviour. If the implementation is correct, then the simulated circuit and the practicalc circuit will show same response.
