In 1999 sony used 2 ICs on a 519mm2 chip

and in 2004 that is after 5 years sony scaled down the same 2 ICs on a 86mm2 chip, that is sony reduced the area required the same two chip by 519/86 that is approximately 6 times smaller area

From above we get to know that in 2004 sony could have accumulated 12 ICs on a 519mm2 chip that is 6 times that of in 1999 just after 5 years from 1999.

So that concludes that sony is ahead of moore's law.
