Question

Jogger 1 in the figure(Figure 1) has a mass of 70.3kg  and runs in a straight line with a speed of 3.35 m/s.

What is the magnitude of the jogger's linear momentum?

What is the magnitude of the jogger's angular momentum with respect to the origin, O?

Please don't just give the answer, that doesn't help at all. Please explain how you got the answer and why it is correct!

Thank you!

Jogger 1 in the figure(Figure 1) has a mass of 70.3kg and runs in a straight line with a speed of 3.35 m/s. What is the magnitude of the jogger's linear momentum? What is the magnitude of the jogger's angular momentum with respect to the origin, O?

Explanation / Answer

1) magnitude of the jogger's linear momentum=mass*velocity= 70.3*3.35= 235.503kg-m/s

2) magnitude of the jogger's angular momentum with respect to the origin, O=mass*velocity*R

here R= distance of line of velocity from origin=5 m

==> L=235.503*5=1177.515 kg-m^2/s
